Hangover Remedies to Cure a Hangover
That party was awesome wasn’t it? It had to be because your head, body and stomach, are telling you that it was. No, this kind of news doesn’t bring you joy. In fact, all you can do is moan and groan about how you feel like you’ve been run over by a truck. Welcome to the world of the insidious hangover.
What can you do about this temporary glitch in your system? There are a lot of well-known hangover remedies all over the world. Some actually work, but it really depends on your personal preference.
The first thing many people grab to drink after they wake up hungover is water. When you’re hungover, your body is in a huge state of dehydration and it craves liquids. Coffee and Coke are also popular choices because their caffeine content can be used as uppers. Too much caffeine, though, can also contribute to your dehydration, so watch out for that. Fruit juice is also a great hangover cure because of the vitamins it contains. The popular juice choices are orange and tomato, though pickle juice is a common hangover remedy in Poland and sauerkraut juice has also proven to be effective.
Sports drinks and milk are also effective because sports drinks hydrate you while milk coats the stomach lining. Interestingly, some people even recommend drinking more alcohol to level things off. The results of this last option though are untested at best. After all these choices for liquid remedies, the best still comes in the simplest and cheapest form: water.
The second kind of remedy comes in the form of food. While soup seems to help, more people opt for fruits. Apples and bananas relieve that pain in your system. There are other kinds of food that may seem odd, but some people say they work. Persimmon, vegemite on toast, cold pizza, and peanut butter are examples.
The last kind of remedy comes in the form of rest. A hot shower can do wonders for your hangover and can really hit the spot. Also, sleep is an excellent way to recharge your weary head and body; at the very least, it will definitely save you some suffering time.
