Wow, that party was a blast. The band was great, the buffet was delicious, and the drinks were overflowing, which is the reason for your misery right now. The headache, nausea, dehydration, and sensitivity to light and noise are all part of the lovely and delectable condition called the hangover.

Hangovers are a nasty way of your body telling you that you had too much to drink the night before. Fortunately, the miserable state you’re in is temporary. It usually lasts for one to four hours, but can last up to two or three days after that fateful night if you partied hard enough. Hangovers are different for everyone. While some get huge hangovers from ingesting too much rum, even throwing up the moment they wake up, others can drink can drink their faces off and wake up perfectly fine and dandy. While some cannot stand the sight, smell, and taste of alcohol while hungover, others can drink beer for breakfast.

Weight plays a factor in how intoxicated people tend to get, and how hungover they consequently become. Generally, the less you weigh, the more you will feel the alcohol in your system. Of course, the more you drink in a short amount of time contributes to your buzz as well. Furthermore, the older you get, the more painful that hangover can get for you.

There a lot of ways to prevent a hangover before, during, and even after drinking. These things should be remembered every time you drink and they should also be a habit. Eat before and during your drinking sessions because drinking on an empty stomach tends to get you drunk faster. Avoid dark liquor because these contain congeners that are a factor for getting people drunk.

When you already have a nasty hangover, drink a lot of water, eat food, and have a refreshing bath. The best cure for a hangover is sleep because you won’t get to feel the pain while you’re recovering. The best way to completely avoid a hangover is, of course, to abstain from drinking, but that’s no fun.
