Can You Tolerate It?
Tolerance games are a kind of drinking games in which players compete to see who can last the longest. It can be as simple as taking shots until someone passes out.
The game "Power Hour" and its variant, "Century Club" are perfect examples of tolerance games. In "Power Hour" the players drink a shot of beer every minute for one hour, while in "Century Club", it is 100 minutes. The winner is the player who doesn’t go to the bathroom or doesn’t pass out. Century club also has another version in which a player should drink 100 beers in 100 hours. This can last for four days, but the drinker doesn’t have to drink the beer every hour. They can sleep and rest just as long as they finish their beers before their time is up.
Another example of a tolerance game is a game played in New Zealand called “Drink Until You Pass Out”. Players line up as many beers as they can and drink and chug them as fast as they can. The winner is the first one to finish their line or to be the last man standing.
Similar to "Power Hour’ and "Century Club" is a game called "Around the World". In this game, a few pints of beer should be lined up at the beginning of the hour. When the minute hand is at number one, take a sip and when it’s at number two, take two sips and so on. This can get players pretty drunk and whoever gives up or passes out is out of the game.
The game "Dead Man Walk" is simple and effective. The players take a step and for every one they take, they sip from their drink. The winner is the one who can walk the farthest. The best kind of alcohol to use here is beer because hard liquor can be very dangerous if taken at this pace.
When playing tolerance games, you have to keep it in mind not to abuse your limitations. If you have a low tolerance for alcohol or if you get easily sick from alcohol, then you shouldn’t force yourself to play when you can’t. There are other drinking games that you can play that won’t be a danger to your health.
