When mixing drinks, you should keep in mind that it requires a great deal of chemistry and creativity. You should also remember that there are two kinds of mixed drinks: alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Whether or not you are learning to mix drinks to earn money or entertain your friends, there are always easier and more affordable ways to learn this craft other than going to school.

The simplest and cheapest form to learn how to mix drinks is to buy a recipe book. Recipe books not only offer a wide variety of drinks but also include pictures for reference.

Aside from learning about different drinks and how to mix them, you also need to learn about the different kinds of glasses. Every drink needs a certain type of glass, although some like a Margarita and a Martini can use the same kind of glass.

There are different kinds of cocktail glasses: rock glasses (Tumblers), highball glasses, champagne glasses, and cocktail glasses.

The rock glasses, more commonly known as tumblers, are short and broad glasses that are normally used for spirits with ice, juices, or short drinks. The highball glass is medium in width, and is tall and straight. They are usually used for drinks with ice.

There are two different kinds of champagne glasses. The common one is the champagne flute, which is tall and narrow with a stem. The second and less common type of champagne glass is the champagne saucer, which is broad and shallow and is less popular because its shape causes the fizz of the champagne to lessen quickly. These glasses can still be used for other drinks, such as Margaritas.

The last group of glasses is the cocktail glasses. These are the classic ones that are stemmed and have sloping sides. This kind of cocktail glass is the best choice for short and strong drinks.

Special glasses aren’t exactly necessary if you are just mixing drinks for fun and are not planning to run an establishment, but you should always remember to never serve cocktails in plastic cups because they will tend to have the taste of plastic.

Also, you should never forget the garnishes for your drinks. For example, don’t neglect to put a stalk of celery in your Bloody Mary. Make sure that you have a nice selection of limes, lemons and pineapples to garnish your drinks.

When mixing drinks, one of the most important things you need are supplies and equipment. You will need more than an ice scoop and ice to mix drinks. One of the two most important pieces of equipment that you will need is a cocktail shaker and a glass rimmer. Jiggers are essential too for measuring drinks.

When making cocktails, mixers are the most important ingredient in the recipe. When using mixers, you have to know exactly how much to put in. Mixers that are used for cocktails come in many forms; soda and juice are the most common.

There are different methods to mix a cocktail, such as shaking, stirring, and blending.

A cocktail shaker is the instrument you need for shaking. When putting ice in the shaker, make sure that they are in cube form and not crushed because the crushed ice will melt the cocktail and dilute it. The ingredients are then poured over the ice in order of alcohol content, the strongest being poured in first. When you are shaking, make sure that you use both hands with one hand on top and the other on the base. You will know that the drink is ready and chilled when water is condensing on the outside. Shaking a cocktail makes the cocktail colder than stirring, but tends to make the drink cloudier.

A glass or metal rod is often used to stir a cocktail before it is strained into a glass. In this method, crushed ice shouldn’t be used. Water condensing is still an indication that the drink is ready and chilled.

For blending, an electric blender is used to mix in the juices, fruit and alcohol. It is a great way to blend ingredients that are difficult to mix. When you are blending a drink, always remember exactly how long you should be blending. Some drinks get ruined when they have been over blended. Generally, blending should be avoided unless the recipe needs it. When you build a blended cocktail, the ingredients are poured into the glass where the cocktail will be served. Usually the ingredients just float on top of each other, but sometimes, a stick is included in the glass for additional mixing.

You always have to keep in mind that when mixing drinks, it is a matter of trial and error. Also, the more ingredients you have for a drink, the more complicated it will be to make. Always remember that practice makes perfect and that having fun while doing it is a very important consideration.
