How Much Alcohol is In There, Anyway?
We all know that beer has the lowest percentage (also known as proof) of alcohol in it, wine has more, and hard liquor or spirits has the most. Have you ever wondered how much beer you have to drink to get as much alcohol as you would get in a shot, or how much more quickly wine will affect you than beer?
Here are the stats for alcohol equivalency, which shows how much of one type you’d have to drink to get the same amount of alcohol that’s in another.
1 - 12/oz bottle/can beer = 5.oz glass of wine = 1.5 oz. shot of 40% liquor (such as vodka or rum, either straight or mixed with juice or soda)
There you have it! It isn’t your imagination - wine really does go to your head about twice as fast as beer.
